First Hair Cut

Croix has the most unruly cowlicks. Lots of them. I decided to grow his hair out longer so that the hair will lay down rather than sticking straight up like it does most of the time. So his hair is in an in-between stage, it doesn't look so great at the moment but it will. Brent has been giving me a hard time about Croix's hair for a while and telling me I need to take him somewhere to get it cut. I finally gave in and we took him to Super Cuts (because I think its obscene to pay a lot of money for a kids cut). I told the girl I'm trying to grow it out longer because of the cowlicks it really just needs cleaned up around the edges. The girl pulled out the clippers and cut his hair WAY too short. And the line between long and short is too obvious and not straight at all! It is an awful hair cut! I ticked we spent a penny on it! Its worse then any hair cut I've ever given him! And now its just going to be that much longer for his hair to grow out! Sigh. Enough about the awful cut.

He liked the animal cape.

Croix did fantastic! He sat still, he listened and looked up or down when she asked. He was such a big boy!

Even with a bad cut he still looks so handsome! Love that boy to pieces!!!!!

First Day of Preschool

Croix had his first day of preschool yesterday. He was so excited! For about an hour before it started he kept trying to go out in the garage to leave. For days before hand he kept asking when he was going to school. This kids was so ready to start preschool! We talked about going potty at preschool and how he needs to put his clothes back on when he's done (he has a problem with stripping from the waist down and not putting his pants back on), about not picking his nose, making friends, listening. I worried how he would do socially, he's a little quiet until he feels comfortable around people.
That morning we loaded up his back pack with a paint shirt, an extra set of clothes in case of a potty accident and his bag of things about him. He was supposed to bring 5 things he likes to help everyone get to know him. He took:

1. A picture of his family. Because he loves his family and really really loves his sister.
2. A yellow car. Because yellow is his favorite color and he likes playing with cars.
3. A puzzle piece from a cars puzzle. Because he loves puzzles and cars.
4. The front of a Graham cracker box. Because they are his favorite snack.
5. An I spy book. Because he loves to read and really likes I spy books.

It was fun to talk to him and pick things out. I sent a little note in his bag with the list above. In case he forgot why he brought things.

When we got to school he was so ready to get to school he started off with out me. I was getting his backpack out of the car and he was heading to the neighbors!  I had to stop him, put his backpack on and send him toward the right house.

He looked so stinking big walking down the sidewalk all by himself. He didn't look back, probably wouldn't have cared if I had followed him in or not. We got inside and he went straight for the toys with out even so much as a glance my direction.

I talked to his teacher Mrs. Chelsea for just a second then went and gave him a hug and kiss and walked out.
It was a little sad. Not to leave him, but that he's getting so dang big!

Maizy and I headed out on errands. The minute I hit the Target parking lot she was awake wanting to eat. So we sat in the parking lot with the AC blasting and I nursed her. Then I made some returns picked up a few things we needed and headed to the mall.  I hit up like 5 stores, so quick and easy. From there we headed to Walmart followed by a drive thru Tropical Smoothie. I thought to myself how did I ever think errands were hard with one child, this is a piece of cake!

When I walked up to get him he was standing in the doorway holding a twizzler and hollers Mom I got one of these! Mrs. Chelsea said he did great. I asked him how preschool was and he said really good. When I asked him what they did he said, we ate snacks and did letters and there was a kitchen!
Later that afternoon we were talking about preschool and he said, I missed Maizy....and Mommy. It was sweet. He's too excited to go again tomorrow. I think instead of errands I'll be taking a nap!

PS, Maizy turned 2 months the same day. Someone please make my children stop growing so fast!!!!

Book Worm

We all know Croix has a great love for books.  The other day we went to the downtown mesa party they do.  It just happened to be the same day that it had rained and the temps were lower so we ventured out side for some fun.  Croix was a little skittish because it had a dog theme and there were lots of dogs.  Some were even bigger than him!  Croix is just a little scared of dogs.  Nothing that is over powering, he can be around them, but he doesn't really like them.  We'll have to remedy that by getting a dog some day (in the very distant future).  Downtown mesa has statues all around.  Croix found this one and before we could stop him climbed right in.  I thought it was adorable!

The Many Faces of My Children

The other day they both were just adorable.  And the light was pretty (although I couldn't get Maizy too look at the light).  So we pulled out the camera.

He sure does love her!

He did this all by himself!

These are what I got when I asked him to smile for me.  ( I wonder how many years it will be before I get a genuine smile out of him in front the camera again!)

Mommy Take A Picture

I hear that from Croix all the time.  I don't think I'll ever have a shortage of picture of the two of them together the way he asks for pictures .  Makes me happy!

Full

Maizy loves to be held, all the time.  I love her and I love to snuggle but having her constantly in my arms or a sling or wrap is getting a little tiring. I think now that she's six weeks old I'll start working on getting her to sleep independently. I was looking though  pictures on the camera and saw this one.

It made me think, my arms may always be full, but they are full of love!

Swim Lessons

Croix started swim lessons on Saturday.  Brent is taking him.  Croix did not want to go.  Photobucket

Brent said Croix was the oldest kid in his class and listened about as well as the youngest.  This kids needs preschool!  Croix didn't really want to do much besides monkey walks (going along the edge of the pool.  Hopefully by the end of the 8 weeks he'll be a better swimmer and feel more comfortable in the pool.  After ward they picked up some ice cream cones at sonic.  Oh how I wanted one!  Instead I lustfully took pictures of Croix eating his!

Heart Breaking

Brent's cousin's baby passed away this week. The Mom was 8 months along, they couldn't find a heartbeat. My heart breaks thinking of her having to deliver a baby and not take him home. To think how far along she was.  Makes me hold my sweet Maizy a little tighter, care a little less about her fussiness, and be that much more thankful she made it here to our family.  I couldn't imagine life with out her!

Nap Time

Croix is transitioning out of a nap.  Which makes me oh so sad!  I still put him in his room and tell him to take a nap, because he's tired, he just won't.  We'll be out and about in the morning and he'll yawn and then say, "I not so tired Mommy".  Or be half asleep in his car seat and then say, "I don't want a nap Mommy"  Sigh.  Where has this sudden disdain of naps come from?  I still tell him he needs to be quite and have him in his room about an hour and a half.  He's not so good at being quite.  He is great at making huge messes.  The other day I went and got him and this is what I found.

It took him an hour to clean it up! And I made him clean it up.  I keep debating if I should give him some toys in his room to play with, conceding that he no longer needs to nap. Or just let him have his books, and that's it, with the hope he will nap.  He gets so grumpy when he doesn't nap still.  Or else I wouldn't mind so much.  Despite my previous belief I am surviving with out naps.  But he is so difficult!  He cries at the drop of a hat, he screams and cries when he doesn't get his way, he doesn't listen and thinks everything must be his way!  Sigh.  Ever 5 or so days he will just crash from exhaustion and sleep for hours, up to 3 hours!  So I know he still needs it.  Everyone keeps saying 3 is harder than 2 and I'm now convince this is because lots of children transition away from a nap at 3!  I'm hoping and trying so hard to get him into a preschool.  Then at least 2 days a week we'll both  have a break from each other that doesn't involve his bedroom.

Super Man

Brent has been amazing!  I just don't even know where to begin!  He has gone above and beyond.  I honestly don't know how I could do this with out him!  He has come home after a stressful day of work (because his work is really busy and stressful right now) and made dinner most nights, because Maizy seems to need to eat around 430 most days, which is dinner fixin' time.  He lets me sleep in and take a nap on Saturday and Sunday.  He's helped with dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, all my normal "jobs" he's helped.  He hasn't been upset with a stinky sink from dishes that haven't been done.  He hasn't complained about not having any underwear.  He just loves me and is patient and helpful during this transition time from one child to two. He even scheduled massages for us!  It was a surprise, such a delightful one.  I will say I was glad the therapist that showed up on our door step was a friend since I was nursing Maizy and had to say, please don't mind my breast, my baby has to eat.  She was cool and totally went with the flow.  He hasn't been upset with a stinky sink from dishes that haven't been done.  He hasn't complained about not having any underwear.  He just loves me and is patient and helpful during this transition time from one child to two.  I feel like I haven't been good enough at verbally expressing my thanks to him for all he's done.  I should really try to be better about that.  But my heart overflows with gratitude for him daily!

We went on our first date with out children in at least six weeks, probably longer.  It was delightful!  Just an hour out for a quick dinner, but we both needed it.  There was lots of stress waiting for us when we got home, but it was nice to leave it at home!

I love him more and more all the time. I couldn't have married someone more perfect for me!
