26 Weeks

Hellooooo Third Trimester.  Well I guess there is a little debate about when the 3rd trimester actually starts.  I divide 40 by 3 and get 26.6 weeks.  So in my world, I'm in the 3rd trimester this week!

I'm still feeling pretty good.  Although I've had moments where I can tell my blood sugar is not good.  The other day we were shopping and I was ignoring the overwhelming feeling I needed to eat NOW.  I just wanted to finish up at the store I was in.  I was looking at clothes on a top rack and got super dizzy.  I felt like I was going to pass out.  I told Brent we needed to go to the food court NOW.  There was another time when I felt like I was going to die unless I ate, and not because I was hungry, but because I could tell my blood sugar was low.  I've also started noticing baby kicking a lot more after I eat.  This happened with Croix and lessened after I started my diabetic diet.  I started having less hope that I don't have gestational diabetes this pregnancy.   To dash all remaining hope I failed the 1 hour glucose test.  My numbers were even higher than when I failed with Croix.  I'm doing the 3 hour test on Tuesday, but feel like it's just to confirm what I already know...I have gestational diabetes again.  Part of me wants to say, well this is most likely my last week of freedom, I'm going to eat all the sweets I can in the next few days.  But really I know that's only going to hurt myself and my baby.  So I'll just watch my carbs from now until I find out for sure.  If I do have it, then I start testing blood sugar 4 times a day.  Strict diet  I was doing fine thinking about this.  Telling myself it's not that bad.  And at least we have testing so I can know and control my diet so I don't have a 10 pound baby.  Then today, tired and hungry, I was in the grocery store and saw lemon bars.  I love lemon bars.  I JUST got lemons to make some.  I almost started crying in the middle of the grocery store.  Sigh....hormones.  It's not so bad and not so long.  I've done it before and can do it again!  (If by some miracle I don't have gestational diabetes this time you better believe I'll be celebrating with a big pan of lemon bars!)

I also keep thinking I have no idea how long to plan before baby comes!  Croix came at 36 weeks, which is only 10 weeks away.  Full term 40 weeks is 14.  I have a friend who's first was born at 36, second 34, 3rd 41!  So I know anything is possible.  It makes it a little difficult for me to mentally prepare.  So game plan, be ready early.

Croix is ready for his sister to get here.  When I went to do the glucose test Brent stayed home with Croix and told him I was at the doctors.  When I walked in Croix says "Mommy!  Home from doctor.  Where's Maizy?"  We've been talking about how we'll go to the hospital and the doctor will help Mommy have the baby.  I guess he just assumed that when Brent said I was at the doctor it was to have the baby.  The other day he was doing this...

and says, I want Maizy out.  I want to hold her.  So of course we had to do this...

I love him and can't wait to see him as a big brother!!

Moving Up

Since he completed his degree Brent has been patiently applying for any and all positions he qualifies for at work.  He finally got one!  It makes all his hard work, our sacrificed time, all the effort seem a little more worth it.  It's still in the same department.  Not a huge raise (but we're not complaining).  But it's something.  It's a step in the right direction.  So far he really seems to like the new position.  I'm proud of Brent for being such a hard worker and great employee.  For being such a great provider for our family.  We sure do love him!!!

We've been a little luck lately.  One Monday while going through my news feed on facebook I saw not one but TWO status saying congratulations to our winner TERINA!!!  I won this little diddy

It's kind of cheesy and we drove all the way to Anthem to get it, but while we were there got some super cute baby girl clothes (eek!).  But cool none the less.  That same day I also won a t-shirt from Putu Princess Escapes.  I had never heard of them and I'm quite excited to get the shirt, and hoping I'll still be able to try it on, considering my growing belly.  Other wise it's going to be a while before I can enjoy my prize.  The site lets you custom make your shirt, in that you pick the shirt style, the color, and the image.  Then they are hand made by the owner on organic cotton.  Sounds awesome right! So mine will look something like this.  The same design, different color and style.

Then last night we were at Costco and got a call.  On the line was a lady calling to tell Brent he had won the drawing we had entered at the Downtown Mesa thing we went to (remember from here).  We get to go see

I'm super excited!  It's been way too long since I've seen a musical.  We'll be seeing it at the Mesa Arts Center.  Hurray for a fun free date!

I'd say we're pretty luck indeed.  (writing that makes me think of this song, which is really where I think I've hit the jackpot)

Life's Good

My Dad and his second wife, Penny are currently going through a custody battle.  As part of this there is a court appointed mediator.  From my understanding her job is to talk to all parties involved (parents, child etc) and provide an unbiased opinion/recommendation to the courts.  She wanted to talk, not only to their child, but to ALL children.  She talked to all of Penny's kids, and myself and my siblings.  I had known she was going to call, we played phone tag for about a week and a half.  We finally connected and I shared with her memories of what it was like growing up with Dale as a father.  None of them were good memories.  (not that I really have many of those anyway).  As we were ending our call she said "Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, I know it's not easy and probably not what you wanted to do today to relive painful memories."

I went along the rest of my day, just fine, I didn't end up in a bad mood, or depressed or brought down thinking about those things.  That night I slept fine (for a long while any time I talked about/to my Dad I'd have a nightmare).  The next day I was thinking what the mediator said and was overwhelmed by what a blessing and miracle the atonement is!  It wasn't that long ago knowing a conversation like that was going to take place would have completely stressed me out.  I would have been a little mess worrying about it.  I would have had an emotional time talking about it.  It would have stuck with me and brought me down.  Today thanks to my Savior and the healing power of the atonement it really was not a big deal.  The reason it wasn't a big deal is because I've healed from the pains of my childhood. When I was talking about this with a friend she said that she thinks I do remarkable well and am very well adjusted considering everything I went through.  Not to pat myself on the back, but I agree.  Despite Because of what I went through and through the power of the atonement I think I've become a pretty good person.  I have plenty of room for improvement, just like everyone.  Over all I feel happy and healthy and LOVE my life.  Ten years ago I wouldn't have believed myself if I heard me say this.  Life is good.  I am blessed.  Miracles happen.  There is joy!  Family, Marriage, and Motherhood are wonderful!

Blessing Dress

While my Mom was here not only did she rock her Grandma job and have tons of fun with Croix, she made a blessing dress for our sweet little girl.  It is so beautiful and perfect!  Oh heavens it makes me so excited!!!

My Mom is beyond talented!!!

Spring Break, AKA Grandma Week

My Mom took off her spring break from work and came down and visited a few days.  My sister Chelsea and nephew Seth also came along.  Croix loves when they come visit!!
 We read stories.
One day we went to Freestone park and rode the train

And played on all of the rides.
And rode one :)  They loved it!
Not that they look like it here!
We walked over and checked out the ducks.
Attempted to get the boys to eat lunch, too many distractions!
Then we walked over to the play ground.

 And played in the sand.
My Mom is one of those super cool Grandma's that's not afraid to get dirty and jumps right in there!

On the way home we got some ice cream.  Thank goodness they were just mini cones, that little bit was still enough for Croix to make a giant mess!
We also went to story time at the library, and played lots and lots!

Another day Grandma Came and took us to the mall.  We picked up Connor on the way.  We enjoyed some chick-fil-a, and the cool cow.

Rode the carousel.

And then a little fun at the play place.

The next day Croix and I went to the pool with some friends.  It was a delightful week!!  We love our Grandma's!!!

What a Weekend!

Friday night we went to downtown Mesa for their 2nd Friday Night Out.  They have vendors, and live music and other fun little things.  Great free family fun.  This month the MIRAZOZO was set up, so we checked it out.  It was pretty awesome!  Croix loved it.  He just ran all though it amazed.  They also had an exhibit of different "musical instruments"  They were odd, and cool.  Like a "bush" of pool noodles that made different musical notes when you touched them.  They also had a community art project where you got a bag of strips of fabric and tie them to one of the fences. (I'm sad I forgot my camera!)

Saturday we went to a baptism of one of the little boys in my primary class.  We are also friends with his family and Croix just loves him.  So we all went.  It was nice for Croix to be able to attend a baptism.  It's always wonderful to feel the spirit at a baptism!

That afternoon we took the light rail into Tempe for the Aloha festival with Grandma. Croix loved it. Loved it all, the train, the festival, Grandma!
 Buying our tickets

 Checking everything out

As soon as we started moving he loved it!

 He said Choo Choo!!
 Watching the world pass by
 Ukulele players, and singers

 Riding in a big boat

 Making paper Leis

 More Dancers

 Face Painting.

He wanted a Nemo fish

Checking out the fish/ducks at the lake

 Brent, Croix, Grandma
 Brent, an escaping Croix, me!!
Sad because Mommy can't hold him (more like won't.  He and my belly are both too big to hold him as much as I used to.  He's been sad about this a lot lately)

It was a super fun weekend!  I love living in a community that has so many fun, free family events!
